Three Cheers for Frontier FIOS

I literally jumped for joy when I heard that Frontier FIOS would be coming to my area. For years my DSL connection has done nothing but hold me back, and the only saving grace about it that it wasn’t as bad as dial up, which isn’t that much of an accomplishment in this day and age. The people living in the city can get all of the high speed networks, but me and everyone else living in the suburbs had nothing but DSL and dial up at our disposal, until now. Now we have something that download a page in the blink of an eye.

When I played video games on my old Internet connection, people would get mad at me because I was lagging. They didn’t want to play against me, and I could only find other people with bad connections to play against me. Under the FIOS connection, I’m faster than everyone else, and now they accuse me of cheating. (more…)

Hot Wheels Road Trip

Read my new book!

Pinball Marble Run

Ride along on the Hot Wheels car as it travels through 8 different track sections all connected by teleporting tunnels. From the backyard to the big hill to the pool and back, this track’s got it all.

Each section worked on its own from tunnel to tunnel. The cart is powered entirely by gravity at all times.

In total there are 11 cuts in the video, 7 between locations and 4 for slow motion footage. The jump section and the loop section were filmed twice, once in 30 fps and again in 120 fps, and the final video cuts from the normal speed footage to the slow motion footage for the duration of both the jump and the loop.

The cart worked reasonably well underwater and only fell off the pool track a few times. The main problem with the pool track was keeping the track connected and in place. A rock was attached to the end of the track in order to weigh it down.

In total about 200 feet of track was used, nearly all of which is present in the 4th section. Filmed with a GoPro Hero4 Session mounted on a modified 2014 Pharadox car. Filmed in California and Colorado.

Q. Why isn’t ‘Off to the Vet’ available in full on YouTube?
A. ‘Off to the Vet’ film production and crowdfunding campaign was a huge undertaking for the Simon’s Cat Team. Our hope is to produce more long form, full colour content for our fans but without having to turn to them through crowdfunding again. The film was completed in 2015 and submitted it to a selection of international film festivals over the following months. During this time, it was exclusively available to all funders that contributed via our private production blog. The feedback we have received from our funders has been overwhelming positive and we hope they are extremely proud of making the film a possibility. If you are a funder and have any questions regarding the campaign, please contact us at

Q. What software do you use?
A. Simon’s Cat is made using Adobe Flash / TV Paint / CelAction animation software.

Q. Why does it take so long to make each Simon’s Cat film?
A. Even though the films are made on computer software, they are still hand-animated in a traditional manner, frame to frame. It usually takes between 12 and 25 drawings to create 1 second of a Simon’s Cat film.

Q. Where can I buy Simon’s Cat merchandise?
A. You can purchase Simon’s Cat products from the official web shop:
